On Wednesday, a search and rescue operation is underway on Lake Victoria following the capsize of a boat carrying 11 people, 100 bags of charcoal, and 40 bags of silverfish.
According to Ugandan authorities, the boat travelled from Kiseba Islands to Katosi near Mukono. It capsized between Jana and Kimmi, but the exact moment of the catastrophe is unknown.
Six passengers were rescued by another transport boat, but five people are still missing, and police marines are searching for them in the waterways.
On Tuesday evening, a boat ferrying a food shipment from Kasi islands to Katosi in Mukono district capsized in the lake, killing a man and woman on board. The wife drowned while the fishermen saved the man.

According to police reports, Overloading and inclement weather were determined to be the primary causes of both accidents. They urged all water travellers to prioritize their safety by wearing life jackets and not overloading their vessels.
