On Wednesday at Wimbledon, two members of the Just Stop Oil movement stormed onto Court 18 and threw orange confetti and jigsaw puzzle pieces all over the court.
One protester wearing a Just Stop Oil T-shirt sat cross-legged on the court before being removed by security, who were able to quickly escort her away.
While ground officials cleared the confetti and forced players Grigor Dimitrov and Sho Shimabukuro to take their seats, the activists were booed by a large portion of the crowd.
Following an incident on Court 18, Wimbledon tweeted, "Following an incident on Court 18, two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and criminal damage and these individuals have now been removed from the Grounds."
A guy and a woman are currently being held, according to the London Metropolitan police.
The match was briefly delayed due to a rain delay shortly after the protesters rushed onto the court, but play has since resumed.
The most recent sporting event the organization has targeted is Wimbledon. Last week, protesters disrupted the first day of the second Ashes Test at Lord's Cricket Ground by dumping orange powder on the outfield.
The World Snooker Championships were also disrupted by protesters who climbed up on the table and threw a bag of orange powder paint all over the playing area.
The two activists at Wimbledon, according to Just Stop Oil, were "demanding that the UK government halts all new licences and consents for oil, gas, and coal."
One of the demonstrators stated: "Forget strawberries and cream, scientists are warning of impending food shortages, mass displacement, and war," in a statement released by Just Stop Oil.
"We must contend with emerging pandemics, economic inflation, and more authoritarian governments that will try to quell dissent. This is a crisis, and a crisis reaction is necessary.
"I want a safe future for all children around the world and the generations to come, not just for my grandchildren."
