North Rift leaders have urged Azimio leader Raila Odinga to step down from active politics and take the statesman role.

Using the recent protests as an example, Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto and his Sigor counterpart Peter Lochakapong urged Raila to focus on the next phase of his political career.

"I respect Raila, and there are many things he fought for that we now have, but it's time for him to take on the role of a statesman," MP Moroto remarked.

Moroto criticized the anti-government rallies, claiming they were causing more harm than benefit to the Kenyan economy and people.

"We agreed to hold bipartisan talks, but that did not happen." "When it comes to maandamano, we need to sit down and figure out how to properly lead our people," he says.

Sigor MP Peter Lochakapong, on his part, stated that gathering signatures to remove President Ruto from office was a useless process and that Odinga should accept the country's leadership.

The Azimio la Umoja coalition principle has been staging several protests across the country protesting several things, including the legitimacy of President William Ruto and his government.
