The fascination of seeing Lamu's famous swimming lions' is drawing hundreds of tourists to the coastal island.

According to locals, in recent weeks, there has been an influx of tourists who have specially requested to observe the bizarre phenomena of lions swimming in the ocean.

Inquiries are claimed to have peaked two days after President William Ruto addressed attendees at the World Safari Rally event in Naivasha, where he praised Kenya's incredible scenery and natural phenomena.

President Ruto spoke about Kenya being the cradle of humanity, the Suswa baboon parliament, Tana River bathing elephants, and Lamu swimming lions.

According to local tour guides, interest in seeing the lions swim has risen. However, he notes that human encroachment and modernization may have long since wiped away this lovely phenomenon.

Mzee Kassim Salim, a revered local elder, says that lions and elephants used to cross from the mainland to Manda Island decades ago. However, these magnificent creatures' migratory patterns halted as human activities took precedence and disturbed their paths.

With its UNESCO World Heritage status and unspoiled coastal scenery, Lamu has long been a popular destination for nature lovers and adventurers.
