Members of the ODM party's County Assembly (MCAs) who met with UDA leaders in Nairobi on Friday, July 7, have now apologized to their constituents.
The MCAs were photographed with Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and his Information and Communication Technology counterpart Eliud Owalo.
Silas Madingu of Central Gem Ward and Seth Baraka of East Gem Ward have now denied plans to defect from the ODM party and join the UDA, stating that Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo duped them.

Madingu claims they went to see the MP to address some development issues before being duped into taking photos with Murkomen and Owalo.
Since their visit on Saba Saba Day, the MCAs who visited the MP with their counterparts Brian Anyango Obiero (South Gem) and Philip Obonyo (North Gem) have experienced harsh criticism and censure from members of the public.
Some committees in the County Assembly have even threatened to de-whip Madingu and Baraka for supposedly betraying their party.
During anti-government protests in Ramula commercial centre on Wednesday, the MCAs insisted that they are steadfast members of the ODM party and had no plans to leave the party, as may be interpreted.
He added that they are staunch supporters of Azimio leader Raila Odinga and warned that no one could deregister them from the ODM party.
Madingu declared they will not allow their political opponents to divide Gem constituency leaders by cheap misinformation and politicking.
The Siaya County Assembly will also debate the conduct of the MCAs and decide on the appropriate disciplinary measures.
