Kerosene's price dropped by Sh3.96 while that of gasoline dropped by Sh0.85.

Diesel continues to be priced the same.

The new prices are Sh194.68 for gasoline, Sh179.67 for diesel, and Sh169.48 for a litre of kerosene.

AS per the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), the maximum retail pump pricing will be effective from Saturday, July 15 until Sunday, August 14, 2023.

This comes after the Authority raised the prices two weeks before reflect the 16% VAT.

The price of gasoline increased by 13.49 Sh, diesel by 12.39 Sh, and kerosene by 11.96 Sh on July 1.


According to the Finance Act of 2023, the VAT rate on super gasoline (PMS), diesel (AGO), and kerosene (IK) has been increased from 8% to 16% as of July 1, 2023. According to a statement, EPRA "has recalculated the maximum pump prices that will be in effect from July 1 through July 14, 2023, considering VAT at 16 percent.

The Finance Act 2023, which contains the doubling of the VAT on fuel, was suspended by the High Court on June 30.

This happened the day after it was supposed to take effect amid a commotion about the tax ideas.

However, EPRA continued to implement the increase.
