The Prime suspect in baby Sagini’s case Alex Ochogo has been sentenced to forty years in prison after he was found guilty of causing grievous harm to the minor.

Further, baby Sagini's grandmother Rael Nyakerario and aunt Pacificah Nyakerario were sentenced to five and 10 years after being found guilty of abetting the crime.

The three were found guilty of causing grievous harm to 4-year-old Baby Junior Sagini in December last year at Ikuruma Village in Kisii County by gouging his eyes out.

On January 18, they were charged with attempted murder, but after prosecutor Hillary Kaino asked the court to adjust the accusations, the charges were reduced to causing serious bodily harm in accordance with Section 4 of the Penal Code.

Sagini's attorney, George Morara, praised the sentence and called it a victory for the young person, who is still in protective custody with his sister, who is seven years old. The accused have 14 days to appeal.
