President William Ruto has assured the opposition that he is willing to listen to their concerns but insisted that there will be no handshake.

On a trip to Mount Kenya, Ruto also stated that the opposition should refrain from using violence and destroying property during protests.

He added that the opposition has agreed that they do not want a handshake, and he agrees. Now he wants to make a second request to them, wanting them to also refrain from violence and the destruction of properties and businesses.

"If we agree on those two things, that there is no handshake and no violence, then we can proceed as a country and discuss the rest of the things."

The President replied to Raila's speech on Sunday, stating that a handshake with Ruto would damage his character.

"We have never stated that we want to be a part of Ruto's government," he remarked.

Ruto, who visited Nyeri on Monday, promised inhabitants threats and stated that the government would complete its regional initiatives.

“The roads that we started constructing before we were destructed by the opposition will continue, this road connects you with the people of Kiharu, we will extend this road towards Kimathi, I have instructed Murkomen to continue the construction of these roads," he said.
