According to Huduma Kenya Chief Executive Officer Ben Chilumo,135,071 Identity Cards(IDs) still need to be collected from Huduma Centers nationwide.
Additionally, 53,189 birth certificates and 42,652 driver’s licenses are also yet to be picked by their owners when he issued an update on the backlog of documents.
The CEO has called upon Kenyans to visit the Huduma Centres in their areas of jurisdiction to pick up their documents, adding that his office is deeply committed to ensuring effortless access to essential government services for all citizens.
“With a strong focus on efficiency and innovation, we are continually striving to enhance the accessibility and availability of government services through our Huduma Centres and digital platforms,” he said.
Further regretting the inconvenience, Huduma Kenya's CEO explained that the delay in processing National Identification Cards, Police Clearance Certificates, Self-Help Group Certificates, and Driver's Licences at Huduma Centres was due to "unavoidable system downtime."
