Opiyo Wandayi, the Minority Leader of the National Assembly, has now requested that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) commence their investigation into the attack on Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina by knocking on the doors of county Governor Anne Waiguru.
Wandayi stated during a Parliamentary session on Tuesday afternoon that Waiguru's apparent involvement in the turmoil that resulted in Njeri being hospitalized with injuries should be investigated.
He claimed this was due to accusations that the perpetrators of the incident mentioned above, who purportedly arrived on the scene in three Toyota Probox vehicles, were acting on orders from the Kirinyaga County administration.
As a result, he wants Waiguru to state the investigating agency and face prosecution if he is proven guilty of the crime.

"It appears that Maina was attacked by goons ostensibly working for the Kirinyaga county government." "We must condemn all forms of violence; violence is violence, whether it occurs in Kondele or Kerugoya," said Opiyo Wandayi.
“So this atrocity which has been meted against our own colleague by the County Governor of Kirinyaga and her agents needs to be investigated very expeditiously, and stern action taken against the financiers and perpetrators of this heinous act.”
He added: “I saw the young MP in very bad shape on social media, having been attacked viciously by goons hired by the Governor. That is not acceptable. We demand that the Governor of Kirinyaga be summoned by the DCI so that she can record a statement and if possible, be taken to court.”
Kisii Woman Representative Dorice Donya addressed the issue in the House, alleging that her Kirinyaga counterpart was addressing worshippers at a ceremony when unruly youngsters pounced on her.
Donya stated she asked the Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms for assistance in getting Njeri airlifted to the Nairobi Hospital for additional treatment, but her request was ignored, and only an ambulance was dispatched instead.
Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, for his part, indicated that the legislator was in stable condition and called for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie explained his experience with political violence in the past, implying that criminals are usually accountable to someone higher up, with whom the buck should stop in the investigation.
