The Kenya Power Company announced on Thursday, August 24, night that four counties would be affected by a power outage on Friday, August 25, 2023.

According to KPC officials, this outage is due to scheduled power maintenance.

The approaching blackout will affect multiple regions across four counties, temporarily disrupting normal power services.

The Kaloleni estate in Nairobi County would be among the regions hit by the anticipated power outages.

The blackout is expected to affect important facilities within this estate, including Kaloleni Social Hall, St John's Secondary School, and neighboring customers.

Moving on to Kiambu County, the second on the list, the scheduled power outage will affect several areas.

These regions include Kinoo, Muthiga, and Baraniki, as well as other portions of Kiambu County, including Kinoo Market, Gaitumbi, and nearby clients.


The power outages will also affect Trans Nzoia County, with Matunda and Moi's Bridge specifically named as sites that will be affected. Chukura, Kona Mbaya, Nzoia, Binyenya, Mburur, and nearby consumers would be impacted throughout Trans Nzoia County.

The outage in Kilifi County will affect Vipingo, Mariashani, Utalii College, Vipingo Health Center, Vipingo Trading Center, Vipingo Makaburini, Palm Ridge, Awali Estate, Shariani, Madrassa, Shariani Primary School, and Shariani Center.

The scheduled blackout will also affect Kuruwitu Road, Vipingo Ridge Bridge, Buxton Kinuni, Kuruwitu Michikichi, Shariani Pope, and surrounding customers.

Throughout the year, Kenya Power Company has made similar statements describing the locations that may be affected by power outages.


This technique has caused some annoyance, particularly for enterprises, which frequently bore the brunt of financial losses during such disruptions.

Notably, according to KPC, power outages hit seven counties on August 24, 2023.

Nairobi, Narok, Nakuru, Meru, Kirinyaga, and Kilifi counties were also affected. These frequent maintenance-related blackouts are part of Kenya Power Company's ongoing efforts to guarantee the dependability and safety of the electricity distribution network.
