President William Ruto has officially opened the Africa Climate Summit (ACS) that begins today, September 6, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
In his remarks during the opening, Ruto noted that the Africa Climate 2023 Summit is not ordinary.
“You have entered the future, a future driven by global partnerships committed to African prosperity, inclusive growth and a livable planet for all of us. This is no ordinary summit,” Ruto said.
Further, he said that the summit will help deliver African solutions to the COP28 climate summit held in Dubai in November.

On her part, Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya said the three days of the summit will help Africa to think of ways to alleviate the crisis.
“The summit presents opportunities for Africa to develop given its opportunities and potential in solving challenges. We must contextualise our ability to adapt in as much as we have challenges,” she said.
The first day of the summit has been branded ministerial day, where Heads of State attend various side events run by ministers.
