The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Senator Okiya Omtatah of Busia and others challenging the execution of the Finance Act, 2023.

The Supreme Court concluded on Friday that it lacks authority to hear the appeal, adding that it is not convinced that the Court Appeal's ruling resulted in grave injustice to warrant its jurisdiction.

"The intended appeals to the Court of Appeal have since been filed and must be resolved within 60 days of the impugned ruling." Furthermore, the hearing of the modified case before the High Court is slated to begin in September 2023," the supreme court's judges stated.

Furthermore, the court dismissed all petitioners' submissions since they were filed late.

The responses were also omitted.

"The applicants' Notice of Motion dated 5th August 2023 be and is hereby dismissed," ruled the judges
