Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in Colombia on an official visit ahead of the Coffee Producers and Roasters Forum in Medellin.
Gachagua is on a four-day official visit with a delegation of farmers.
The 7th Edition of the Producers and Roasters Forum, set to be a pivotal event, will serve as a platform for stakeholders to discuss the future of the coffee industry, with the delegation's schedule jam-packed with engagements, including bilateral discussions with Colombian Vice President Francia Elena Márquez.

"Coffee reforms are progressing steadily. Our farmers must be paid what they are worth, which is more money in their pockets. "One strategy is to engage high-value markets for better prices," Gachagua remarked in a tweet on Tuesday.
Gachagua left Kenya on Sunday night to boost efforts to make the agricultural sub-sector profitable for farmers again, as it had been for years.
"We are committed to implementing strategies that will empower coffee farmers to secure the financial stability they rightfully deserve," he stated.
Industry experts also join the deputy president on a quest to improve wages for workers at the core of the coffee supply chain.
