A Kenyan student drowned while swimming at a lake in Stockton, Newcastle.
According to authorities, Orville Kimutai Tures drowned in Stockton Lake in the western Australian town of Shotts on Saturday.
The 23-year-old had been in Perth since March and had gone swimming around 3:15 p.m. when the disaster occurred.
Tures could not be helped by members of the public who were on the lakeside, according to police.
"The male needed assistance in the water and was unable to receive assistance from members of the public on shore." "Police responded to the scene and began a search," according to a Western Australia Police Force report.

On Monday, police divers discovered the student's body.
Tures' family has recently established a GoFundMe campaign to seek funds to return his body to their home in Kapteren, Keiyo North, in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
