President William Ruto now says the Ukrainian government plans to establish a grain hub in Mombasa as part of a larger move to combat food shortages in Kenya and the East African region.

Ruto, who met Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in the United States on Tuesday emphasized his support for a peaceful solution to the Russian-Ukraine conflict.

“In New York, United States held talks with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy who committed to establishing a grain hub in the Port of Mombasa to address food shortage in East Africa,” Ruto said.

“Kenya advocates for a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict to restore stability, alleviate the suffering of the people and stop the destruction of property.”
