Mumias East MP Peter Salasya accused President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance of exploiting his name to harm opposition leader Raila Odinga's presidential ambitions.

Honorable Salasya accused UDA's propaganda machine of using his name in his statement on September 19, 2023, by sharing a screenshot of a pseudo account bearing his name bundled together with a version also running the terms of government blogger Dennis Itumbi, and both accounts sharing the same message.

"My official Twitter is this one I am posting from, please. UDA should focus on delivering the mandate they promised Kenyans, not working on propaganda. Bringing me on this is a big no. I respect Baba Raila Odinga," said Honorable Salasya as he tagged Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa.

Honorable Salasya is a Baba supporter who ran on the Democratic Action Party-Kenya ticket.

DAP-K is one of the opposition Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance parties, of which Raila is the Principal.

Earlier, the pseudo-Salasya account tweeted that Raila Odinga's attempt to run for president for a sixth time in 2027 was ridiculous.

"I am a staunch Raila Odinga supporter who has voted for him numerous times." However, in 2027, Baba must back another candidate. Let Kalonzo Musyoka, the guy who has stood by him, be rewarded. Reward him if loyalty is rewarded. "Baba the 6th is a ridiculous idea," the bogus Salasya account said.

Raila Odinga has been talked about running for president a sixth time in 2027 after losing to President William Ruto by 200,000 votes.

The opposition claimed the election was rigged and disputed the results, but Kenya's Supreme Court denied the appeal.

On the other hand, Raila declared in January 2023 that his Orange Democratic Movement party will be restructured from the grassroots to the national level in preparation for the 2027 elections.

While Raila has not definitively stated that he will run for president again, individuals close to him have been dropping hints and campaigning for him to do so, claiming that despite his age, he is still a capable leader.
