The Open University of Kenya has commenced its first enrollment today after opening its application portal, allowing students to apply for courses.

Konza Technopolis Chief Executive Officer John Paul Okwiri made the revelation at the launch of the Economic Innovation Partnership Program in partnership with the Korean Government.

“I’m glad to report that we’ve been able to go live. Students who are able to begin registration and get admission can say a lot of progress has been made and one can now log in to the website and get admitted.”

“It went live today and at the end of the day we will be able to get the number of students who have already been admitted,” Okwiri said.

This comes a month after President William Ruto awarded the learning institution which is the first virtual higher learning institution in the country, charter.

The charter aligns with the Head of State’s goal to provide Kenya with affordable and high-quality education.

Ruto said his administration is keen on offering competitive and industry-driven education aligned with the government’s economic transformation agenda.

“It will also build a formidable stock of qualified and skilled graduates for our market and beyond,” he said.
