President William Ruto has chosen Renson Mulele Ingonga to serve as the DPP.

Ruto highlighted Ingonga will hold the job for eight years in a gazette notification on Wednesday.

A week after being authorized by lawmakers following a thorough screening process, Ingonga was appointed.

The committee recommended his appointment in the vetting report based on his overall familiarity with public litigations and his background working at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for several years.

Noordin Haji, now the Director-General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), will be replaced by Mulele.

He was the Assistant DPP before being nominated.
