According to the museum, The "vast majority" of the missing objects, primarily diamonds and jewelry, were from the departments of Greece and Rome.
A gold Roman bracelet, an inscribed finger ring, and a blue glass intaglio depicting a helmeted warrior killing a four-headed snake with a double axe are among the images.
On the advice of recovery professionals, the Central London Museum stated it would not share detailed information about the lost pieces.
It urged anyone who believes they "may be, or have been, in possession of items from the British Museum" to contact them.
Separately, the museum stated, "60 items have now been returned, with a further 300 identified and due to be returned shortly."
In August, the museum announced that a staff member had been fired and that the police had been notified after items were discovered to be "missing, stolen, or damaged."
