About 60 Eregi Girls High School students in Kakamega County have been admitted to various hospitals following an outbreak of an unknown illness.
Reports indicate that thirty students were admitted to the Kakamega Level Five Hospital, 20 to Shibwe Hospital, and 10 to Iguhu Hospital.
The students have shown similar symptoms, where they are having trouble walking.
Further, more students are being rushed to various health facilities in the county.
Sources indicated that initial laboratory tests had revealed that the students had elevated electrolytes, indicating that their bodies had lost fluids.
Medical personnel from KEMRI are expected to visit the School on Tuesday to assess the situation.
