Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has reacted to COB Margaret Nyakang’o arrest. Alai says that Margaret remained to be the only consistent voice against wastage in this regime. He added that Auditor General seems not ready to ruffle feathers and claim they now want to fix the COB with fake charges?

"For you to arrest COB, you must notify the President. Clearly they are not ready to fight wastage in this government. Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang'o was arrested today in Mombasa, along with nine other individuals, on charges of "conspiracy to defraud." The news has reverberated through the nation, prompting concerns about potential high-level financial misconduct," posted Alai.

Nyakang'o is accused of masterminding a sophisticated scheme of deception. While specific details are limited, authorities claim that she collaborated with individuals from diverse sectors, including the private sector and possibly even within the government, to divert public funds through questionable contracts and inflated payments.

COB Margaret Nyakang’o has remained to be the only consistent voice against wastage in this regime.

Insiders familiar with the investigation hint at a scheme involving inflated procurement costs, manipulated tenders, and a network of shell companies used for laundering ill-gotten gains. The exact amount allegedly embezzled is yet to be determined, but speculations suggest it could reach into the millions, if not billions, of shillings.

The arrest of Nyakang'o has sparked a flurry of reactions. Kenyans, accustomed to her stern declarations on fiscal responsibility, are grappling with reconciling the image of the austere budget watchdog with the allegations of embezzlement. Some express disbelief, others outrage, and many fear that this might just be the beginning, pointing to a deeper corruption issue within the public financial management system.

The arrest of the Controller of Budget is a potentially historic event as well as a legal concern. It challenges the basic idea of accountability and highlights how easily even the most seemingly stable systems may be manipulated, striking at the core of public trust. The country waits for answers while Nyakang'o is arraigned.
