Laikipia East Member of Parliament Mwangi Kiunjuri has stated that President William Ruto supports the "one man, one vote, one shilling" sharing formula. According to Kiunjuri, the Head of State responded positively when he discussed the issue with him. The MP also criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his public outcry on the matter.

The Deputy President triggered a political storm with his call for the "one man, one shilling" revenue sharing formula. Gachagua argued that revenue should be distributed among counties based on population rather than land mass. This stance angered political leaders from vast arid and semi-arid regions. Gachagua specifically called for more resources to be allocated to the densely populated Mt. Kenya region.

“The push for this formula is not just about our region’s high population but it is because it is the right thing to do. We are committed to ensuring fairness in the sharing of national revenue," he said.

During the Limuru 3 meeting, leaders endorsed the sharing formula based on population and criticized the government for undermining former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu appealed to the community for forgiveness for misleading them to vote for President William Ruto. He also sought forgiveness from former Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I'm sorry and would request my people to forgive me,I misled them to vote for the UDA party,"Waititu said.
