During an interview on Inooro TV on Sunday, August 4, Gachagua opened up about his immense contribution to the growth of the ruling party. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that he single-handedly funded President William Ruto's presidential campaigns in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region. Gachagua claimed that Ruto did not provide financial support during the electoral process, asserting that he has the financial muscle to handle it himself. He affirmed his wealth, explaining that he accumulated significant funds during former President Mwai Kibaki's administration.

"I’m a rich man, I made a lot of money during the Kibaki government and I financed UDA campaigns without receiving a penny from him (President Ruto) in Mt Kenya," Gachagua said.
Gachagua about quiting UDA party
The Deputy President dismissed reports that he was planning to leave his party amid rumors of a fallout with the party leader. Gachagua asserted that those expecting him to depart would be disappointed, emphasizing that the Mt Kenya region contributed close to 50% of Ruto's votes.
"This is our party, and those who assume we are leaving will be disappointed, we contributed 47 percent of votes," Gachagua said.
