Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that he funded President William Ruto's presidential campaigns in the Mt Kenya region. Gachagua asserted his wealth, claiming he made significant money during former President Mwai Kibaki's administration.

Despite internal pressure and rumors of a fallout, Gachagua dismissed any plans to leave the UDA party, emphasizing his commitment to the party. He highlighted the significant contribution of the Mt Kenya region to Ruto's electoral victory, stating they provided close to 50% of the votes.

During an interview on Inooro TV on Sunday, August 4, Gachagua opened up about his immense contribution to the growth of the ruling party. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that he single-handedly funded President William Ruto's presidential campaigns in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region. Gachagua claimed that Ruto did not provide financial support during the electoral process, asserting that he has the financial muscle to handle it himself. He affirmed his wealth, explaining that he accumulated significant funds during former President Mwai Kibaki's administration.

"I’m a rich man, I made a lot of money during the Kibaki government and I financed UDA campaigns without receiving a penny from him (President Ruto) in Mt Kenya," Gachagua said.
