Meru County MCAs couldn't contain their joy after the Senate declared Governor Kawira Mwangaza guilty of the charges she faced during her impeachment process. As soon as lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, who led the Meru County Assembly's legal team, stepped out of the Senate, the MCAs lifted him up in celebration. Their joy was palpable, reflecting the relief and satisfaction of the successful outcome of the impeachment proceedings against Governor Mwangaza.

On the shoulders of one of the MCAs, lawyer Ndengwa Njiru was seen celebrating with the rest of the MCAs. This moment was a testament to the unity and strength of their alliance. The Meru County MCAs had been eagerly awaiting this moment, as they were determined to see Governor Kawira Mwangaza ousted from office.

Their patience and unity paid off when Governor Kawira's impeachment was ultimately announced by Senate House Speaker Hon. Amason Kingi, following her conviction on charges brought before the house.

Governor Mwangaza was convicted of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and flagrant violations of the Constitution and other laws. Since the general elections in 2022, she has become the first governor to be impeached. As word of her impeachment spread online, Kenyans and prominent figures from the Kenya Kwanza administration and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance also voiced their opinions.
