Rigathi Gachagua and Uhuru Kenyatta received enthusiastic cheers from the crowd when their names were mentioned, a reaction that was mirrored later during Governor Mbarire’s speech as she acknowledged the two former leaders.

The event at the University of Embu grounds was a significant occasion, celebrated with joy and a strong sense of unity among the clergy and faithful.

In attendance were President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, and other dignitaries.

Archbishop Anthony Muheria, who presided over the ceremony and served as the master of ceremonies, took a moment to recognize the distinguished guests.

The ceremony drew a large crowd, including prominent figures from both the religious and political spheres including bishops, priests, deacons and other members of the laity.

Prior to his installation as the new Catholic Bishop of Embu, Bishop Kimani took oath of office.

Archbishop Muheria emphasised the importance of faith, service and leadership in guiding the Catholic faithful of Embu county.

Uhuru in his brief remarks congratulated Bishop Kimani on his elevation and expressed confidence in his leadership abilities.

He also reiterated his commitment to supporting the Church’s mission, especially in areas of education, health, and social justice.

Ahead of the installation, Gachagua went big on Biblical quotes, highlighting Mathew 9: 37 and 38.

"He said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field," the former DP said while quoting the scriptures.

The former DP has heightened public engagements in Mt Kenya and has been attending social events including church and funeral services.

Last week, Gachagua asked Mt Kenya Gen Z to register as voters and wait for his political direction at the right time ahead of the 2027 polls.

As the service concluded, Archbishop Muheria led a prayer for peace, unity and prosperity for the diocese under Bishop Kimani's leadership.
