Lang'ata Member of Parliament, Felix Oduor, popularly known as Jalang'o, has disclosed the highest-paid radio presenters in Kenya. During an interview on the Iko Nini podcast, the former Kiss 100 co-host admitted that radio is a highly lucrative industry.

Jalang'o, who spent nearly a decade in radio, worked with several top stations, including Kiss 100, Hot 96, Milele FM, and Radio Maisha.

During his tenure in radio, 'Mzee' Jalang’o worked alongside some popular radio presenters, including Jeff Koinange, Alex Mwakideu, Kamene Goro, and Caroline Mutoko. He has vast experience in the media industry thanks to hard work, research, and consistency.

While speaking to Mwaafrika at the Iko Nini podcast show, Jalang'o revealed that morning show presenters make huge money. Some of them include Jeff Koinange, Gidi, Ghost Mulee, and Alex Mwakideu, just to name a few.

According to Jalang'o, some media personalities generate massive profits for radio stations through dedication and consistency. He revealed that morning shows on stations like Kiss 100, Classic 105, and Hot 96 can earn at least Shs 20 million per week. As a result, presenters who attract significant audience engagement and drive high viewership are well compensated.

"There are radio presenters who earn over Shs 3 million per month. For example, why shouldn't you earn Shs 5 million when your show makes Shs 20 million in a week?" Jalang'o.

Mzee Jalas further revealed the radio hosts who are on another level; that's Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King'ang'i. These two veterans in the media industry have worked together for over a decade, and their show at Classic 105 is very popular.

As a result, the Classic 105 morning show makes Shs 10 million per day, according to Jalang'o. This huge revenue is earned through several commercial breaks and sponsored content in the morning show.

As a reward, Mwalimu King'ang'i and Maina are paid over Shs 3 million thanks to their ability to drive many views.

"Mwalimu King'ang'i na Maina Kageni walipita Shs 3 million kitambo sana. Easily, when Maina seats on a show, he makes Shs 10 million per day." Jalang'o revealed

Achieving great milestones in radio requires consistency, thorough research, and hard work, much like Maina and King’ang’i.
