Opiyo Wandayi, the MP for Ugunja, has insisted that the expense of living be one of the problems discussed in the joint committee meeting suggested by President William Ruto.

The member of parliament argued that the high living expense is a significant problem that cannot be ignored and that it was one of the main reasons for the Azimio la Umoja anti-government protests.

Wandayi, who also serves as the Minority Leader in the National Assembly, noted that it must develop effective solutions when the committee meets for the sittings.

While appearing during Citizen TV's Daybreak show, wandayi said that the issue cannot be taken off the table and it has to be addressed in this bipartisan committee.

"It is not enough to say that we have ordered for fertiliser. We want concrete proposals that are implementable because majority of Kenyans are suffering." he added.

Prior to the meeting, he noted, the two sides should convene to discuss the rules of engagement that will guide the meeting in making decisions.

"This committee must be given clear terms of reference so that when it eventually comes up with recommendations they must be in line with the terms of reference," wandayi said.
