The Kanini Kega-led Jubilee party has officially issued a notice to withdraw from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition.

In a notice seen by Waza in a local daily dated 13th June 2023, Kega indicated that the Jubilee Party no longer wants to be part of the Azimio outfit.

“Take Notice that the National Executive Committee(NEC) of Jubilee Party meeting of 6th June, 2023 resolved to withdraw from the Deed of Agreement for Azimio La Umoja One Coalition,” read part of the notice.

“Further take note that pursuant to Article 33.1.1 and 2 of the party constitution as read together with article 22.1 of the deed of agreement for Azimio la Umoja one Kenya coalition, Jubilee party hereby gives notice to withdraw from the deed of agreement for Azimio la Umoja coalition.”

The notice comes one month after the Jeremiah Kioni-led faction's National Delegates Conference (NDC), which resulted in the expulsion of the Kenya Kwanza-supported Jubilee Members of Parliament from the party and was denounced as meaningless and unlawful by the Kega-led side.

Jubilee has recently been the subject of debates because of Azimio's interpretation of a covert government intervention in the internal problems plaguing the former ruling party.

The disputes have been so heated that Uhuru Kenyatta, a retired head of state, was forced to leave his retirement in blatant contempt of the law requiring him to stop participating in active politics.
