On Monday, July 10, Azimio Principal Martha Karua clarified the purpose behind the opposition's campaign to gather 10 million signatures.
Karua noted that the collection of signatures comprised Kenyan citizens who backed Azimio's anti-government.
The leader of the Narc Kenya party deviated from Eugene Wamalwa's earlier assertion that signatures may be used to overthrow President William Ruto's administration.
She emphasized that Kenyans might air their complaints and disappointments on the signature collection's platform.
"We will hold as many meetings as possible all over Kenya because there isn't a site big enough to convene a general meeting of the Kenyan populace.

"The populace will conduct its petition-based referendum. When we reach the 10 million mark, we will know that most Kenyans are speaking, she said, stressing that Azimio was perceived as lacking popular backing for a long time.
Karua said Kenyans might directly express their desire and sovereignty by signing documents.
The Finance Act of 2023's execution and the pursuit of electoral justice were two of the four main topics Karua listed as what Azimio tackled in its conflict with the government.
The coalition also fought for fair selection of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission selection panel and respect for multiparty democracy.
She emphasized the primary objective of the signature campaign and said, "It will be a body count of the people supporting the cause.
Karua added that because Ruto's administration had shown disregard for the problems afflicting Kenyans, the weekly protests would continue till further notice.
The former Gichugu MP defended the coalition's advisory position when asked about the use of cars by Azimio principals during protests, despite the coalition's call for Kenyans to carpool and investigate alternative modes of transportation to deny Ruto's government the revenue generated from fuel Value Added Tax (VAT).
She noted that she had frequently practised carpooling on several occasions, together with Eugene Wamalwa and other Azimio executives.
Karua's words on the ultimate purpose of the signature collection were identical to those stated the day before by Azimio representative Fredrick Okango.
He said, "We are not seeking to impeach, but to delegitimize and withdraw the sovereign delegated powers."
Azimio hinted that the effort was one strategy to unseat Ruto as he announced the start of the signature collection exercise. "We, the people of Kenya, will start a signature-gathering campaign to show that we are prepared to reject Ruto's administration. Eugene Wamalwa said on Tuesday, June 27, "This exercise will take many additional shapes and forms until we knock Ruto out of office.
