President William Ruto has condemned the Opposition led anti-government demonstrations that occurred three days last week.

Speaking on Thursday during his five-day coastal tour, the Head of State revealed that the demonstrations were tarnishing Kenya's reputation.

Ruto revealed that a special envoy was sent last week from China regarding some road projects.

"He told me that I had earlier sent my CS to him and he decided to come. But he was shocked to learn that some of the roads they had built for us had been destroyed during the protests.”

Further, he noted that the Chinese were deeply concerned on the road and road furniture that had been destroyed and some burnt during demos.

"Hii maandamano inatuharibia sifa ya Kenya. Alisema ni kujenga Kenya inataka kujenga barabara ama ni kubomoa. Mnaona hasara Kenya inapata na hii maandamano?" Ruto said.

Since the protests under the leadership of Azimio began in March of this year, blocking roads and burning tyres on roads have become commonplace.

Unsettlingly, some demonstrators even damage government-built roadside furniture that cost millions to construct.

A man was spotted walking along Haile Selassie in March while holding Tom Mboya street signs.

This month, a portion of the Nairobi Expressway was also vandalised at the Mlolongo toll station.
