Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has called out National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to commence bipartisan talks immediately instead of engaging in an unnecessary exchange of letters.
During a funds drive in Homa Bay on Sunday, Murkomen criticized the two for the back-and-forth, saying they derailed the talks.
“I don’t know why Kimani Ichung’wah and Kalonzo Musyoka are writing letters to each other. What is it for, why don’t they call each other and meet?” Murkomen said.
Further, Murkomen stated he did not want to see the nation into another round of protests. At the same time, there is still time to listen to one another during bipartisan negotiations.
Ichung'wah will be in charge of the Kenya Kwanza team, while Kolanzo will be in charge of the Azimio side in the negotiations between the government and opposition, which are anticipated to be mediated by Nigerian Head of State Olusegun Obasanjo.

However, the formal negotiations have not yet begun. Ichung'wah received a letter from Kalonzo Musyoka last week asking his team to a meeting at the Serena Hotel.
In his statement, Ichung'wah rejected the suggested location, calling it an expensive one that would be a waste of taxpayers' money.
Instead, Ichungw’ah said the meeting should be held in a public place and further rejected to discuss issues on the high cost of living.
