According to Pep Guardiola, John Stones has officially joined Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jeremy Doku on Manchester City's growing injury list.

Due to an ankle injury, Stones left City's midweek victory over Everton at Goodison Park limping.

According to City manager Guardiola, the England international, who can play in midfield and defense, will likely miss a brief period due to injury.

The Premier League champions are dealt yet another setback as they prepare to play Sheffield United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

After missing six matches due to a foot injury, Norway's Haaland is still not fully recovered from his injury, and Belgium's De Bruyne and Doku are too young for this match.

"Nothing has changed," responded Guardiola when asked about player availability on Friday.

"We have the same injuries plus John Stones."

Despite United's low standing in the league, they have shown some promising signs since Chris Wilder took over as manager.

Following a remarkably patchy run of results, fourth-place City's victory over Everton put them five points behind leaders Liverpool with a game remaining.

With the title race heating up, Guardiola anticipates a difficult afternoon on Saturday despite the Blades' lowly position.

"Always in the past, we've had problems against Sheffield," he said.

"They made an incredible performance against Aston Villa. They were close to winning the game.

"It will be so, so tough, a bit like Crystal Palace. In the last games at home we couldn't get results, in terms of victories, so we will try to be focused on what we have to do."

The match will be City's final one of the year after winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, European Super Cup, and Club World Cup in 2023.

When asked to summarize the previous year, Guardiola responded in a reserved manner.

"It's not bad at all. Not too bad. Always could be better, but try not to get overly avaricious. It was excellent," he remarked.
