In Sunday's 7-0 loss at Anfield, United suffered a defeat that was their biggest ever and worst since 1931.

Erik ten Hag gave the same starting lineup in his reply and got the answers with a return to form.

"You can observe a team's response to a setback, according to "This is not the first time this season," said Ten Hag. "You have seen us restart and recover five or six times. I must give this team much credit because they have character".

With his 26th goal of the year, Marcus Rashford gave United an early advantage. Nevertheless, Betis drew even against the odds when Ayoze Perez struck a shot into the far corner.

After the break, two of United's stars recently receiving the most scathing criticism were the key players.

Before Bruno Fernandes, who Ten Hag again selected as captain, headed into Luke Shaw's corner, Antony curled a magnificent shot into the top corner.

Ten Hag added, "Bruno was outstanding today. He set the tone for the squad right away through his play in possession, established the game's tempo, and scored a goal, so I'm pleased".
