Nowitzki, widely recognized as the greatest player ever to wear the Dallas Mavericks uniform and a future contender for the NBA Hall of Fame, is married to a Kenyan woman named Jessica Olsson.
Jesicca was born in 1982 in Gavle, Sweden, to a Swedish dad and a Nanyuki-born Kenyan mother, Njeri Waikwa.
In 2010, the pair met at a charity event for sports.
She worked at the Dallas Art Gallery then, and Nowitzki was on a roll in his basketball career.
The couple married in 2012. First, there was a traditional wedding at Nanyuki, followed by a formal one at the family's house in Dallas, Texas.
In an interview with local media in 2017, Nowitzki stated that he visits Kenya at least once a year and does not need to promote his presence because it is a second home for him and his children.
Nowitzki told the Nation that he believes it is crucial to introduce their children - two boys and a girl - to "their heritage," whether it is in Kenya, Germany, or Dallas, where he lives and works. Malaika, Morris, and Max are their three children.
