Stefanos Tsitsipas, the fifth-ranked player in the world, had little resistance as he easily defeated claycourt expert Roberto Carballes Baena on Wednesday, winning 6-3 7-6(4) 6-2 to move to the third round of the French Open.


The tournament's fifth seed, who is going for his maiden Grand Slam, struggled a little bit against Jiri Vesely in the opening match, but he was completely in charge against the 30-year-old Spaniard, cruising to an easy victory.

He swiftly took the lead, breaking his opponent early while maintaining his own serve and winning the opening set.


In a wild second set, the players exchanged two breaks apiece while Carballes Baena attempted to force Tsitsipas into protracted baseline rallies.


The Spaniard was able to force a tiebreak, but the Greek maintained his cool to win the first two sets and easily advance to the second round with a swift 4-0.
