Shafiq Kagimu, a midfielder for Gor Mahia, has left the team and is reportedly close to signing with FK Rabotnicki of North Macedonia, according to Mozzart Sport.

The former URA captain signed a short-term contract with Gor Mahia in March 2023. Following the completion of the season, the defensive midfielder left the team and will soon join his new team.

Gor and the player's camp had a gentleman's agreement that the player would be released if given the chance to play outside of Kenyan borders. The player has since left for North Macedonia to join up with his new team.

“It is true, Kagimu has left Gor Mahia. We had an agreement with Gor that he would leave at the end of the season unconditionally, and I am glad that they have kept their part of the bargain. All is agreed with his new club, and he will link up with his new team soon,” a source within the player’s camp said.

Coach Jonathan McKinstry brought in Kagimu as one of the players during the mid-season transfer window. He left Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC of Uganda after an eight-year stint and left as a free agent. In January, Gor also hired Sylvester Owino, Emery Bayisenge, and Patrick Kaddu, all of whom are natives of the same country.

Kagimu is a full Ugandan international. He has played for the national team 13 times. He made his Uganda Cranes debut in 2017.

Rabotnicki has won the league championship 10 times; the most recent occasion was in the 2014–15 campaign. They have also achieved a comparable number of FA Cup victories. They compete at the 33,000-seat Toshe Proeski Arena.

The team has been in both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League on numerous occasions. In 2010, they faced up against Liverpool in the third qualifying round of the Europa League, where they were defeated 4-0 on aggregate.
