The Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) has appointed Mary Wanyonyi, the spouse of the former Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Wafula Chebukati, as the new Chairperson.
Parliament approved Wanyonyi’s appointment on Thursday after determining her suitability for the position.
Wanyonyi was examined by the House Committee on Finance and National Planning on June 22, 2023, and they came to a conclusion in their report that she was qualified for the position.
Jane Kiringai, the former head of the CRA who retired after serving a full six-year term, was succeeded by Wanyonyi, who President William Ruto chose.
Wanyonyi will now work for the organisation, whose primary responsibility is to offer suggestions regarding the framework for the equitable sharing of resources raised by the national government, between the National and County Governments and among County Governments, for a six-year non-renewable period.
