Leicester City made an announcement on Sunday, revealing their appointment of Willy Caballero, the former goalkeeper for Manchester City and Chelsea, as the assistant manager to Enzo Maresca. The 41-year-old, who represented Argentina internationally, had a three-year stint with City starting in 2014, followed by four years at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea.

After an 18-month tenure at Southampton, Willy Caballero is set to embark on his inaugural coaching role with Leicester City. The former Manchester City and Chelsea goalkeeper's coaching journey begins with his appointment as assistant manager to Enzo Maresca at the Championship side.


“Thanks to Caballero for his service during his time with the club. The keeper has joined LCFC (Leicester) as assistant manager following the expiry of his SaintsFC contract,” Southampton said in a post on Twitter.

After a more than 20-year playing career, the League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, and Europa League champion will join Maresca as the fifth member of the backroom staff.

Maresca signed a three-year contract with Leicester after leaving his position as Pep Guardiola's assistant coach at treble winners City. On August 6, Leicester will play Coventry City at home to open their Championship season.
