Tuesday saw the completion of Newcastle's acquisition of Southampton's Tino Livramento as a defender for a reported initial fee of £32 million ($41 million). Livramento, 20, made an impression during the 2021/22 season soon after transferring from Chelsea to St. Mary's.
He did miss the majority of the previous campaign, though, as a result of an anterior cruciate ligament injury incurred in April 2022, just as Southampton was being demoted from the Premier League.

The BBC said that if performance-related bonuses are reached, the total sum might increase to £40 million. With the additions of winger, Harvey Barnes and Italian international midfielder Sandro Tonali, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has now bolstered his team by three players.

"At 20, he already has lots of attributes that I admire but he also has the potential and drive to really grow with this team," said Howe in a club statement.
"I'm looking forward to working with him and to seeing him develop in a Newcastle shirt." Newcastle has qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years thanks to backing from the Saudi sovereign wealth fund.

Livramento, who committed to a five-year deal, claimed that the Magpies' upward trajectory was a key factor in luring him to St. James' Park.
"The way the manager plays football is really attractive and I feel like it suits me as a player," said the England under-21 international.
"With how well the team did last season, the trajectory that we're on now, I'm just looking forward to being a part of that."
The inaugural Premier League match of the year will take place on Saturday between Newcastle and Aston Villa.
