Gor Mahia FC won the FKF Charity Shield on Saturday after beating Kakamega Homeboyz 4- 2 at the Kasarani Stadium.

The annual season-opening FKF Premier League matchup between the previous cup winners and league champions from the previous year had ended 1-1 in regular play.

No goals were scored in the first half as both teams strategically evaluated their opponents.

However, in the second half, Gor's Bonface Omondi broke the tie and gave his team the lead in the 62nd minute.

Eight minutes later, Eric Ambunya of the Homeboyz tied the game. Until the final horn, the score remained tied at 1-1, forcing a penalty shootout.

Lyson Muyonga of Gor scored the deciding penalty kick to clinch his team's first trophy of the year.

On August 26, the start of the new league season is scheduled, with eight matches that promise to be exciting.

The intriguing showdown between brand-newcomers Shabana and Muranga Seal, who are both eager to leave their mark on the league, is one of these games.
