Gor Mahia FC won the FKF Charity Shield on Saturday after beating Kakamega Homeboyz 4- 2 at the Kasarani Stadium.
The annual season-opening FKF Premier League matchup between the previous cup winners and league champions from the previous year had ended 1-1 in regular play.
No goals were scored in the first half as both teams strategically evaluated their opponents.
However, in the second half, Gor's Bonface Omondi broke the tie and gave his team the lead in the 62nd minute.
Eight minutes later, Eric Ambunya of the Homeboyz tied the game. Until the final horn, the score remained tied at 1-1, forcing a penalty shootout.
