A 5-kilometer fun run was held in Eldoret town before the Devolution Conference, and several governors and their deputies participated.

The race, including some top athletes and county employees, began at the Uasin Gishu County administrative building and finished at the Kipchoge Keino stadium after travelling around the town.

Only the governor of Trans Nzoia, George Natembeya, finished the marathon, as others withdrew.

The host governor Jonathan Bii and the West Pokot governor Simon Kachapin ran well and completed more than three kilometres before giving up.

" We are a city of champions and happy to host all governors in our town. We congratulate those who have joined us in the fun race," Bii said.

The governors and other participants in the 10th devolution conference, which is taking place at the Eldoret Sports Club, were dressed in T-shirts.

Natembeya expressed his happiness at completing the event and credited it to always staying in shape.

Before the conference, governors and Sports CS Ababu Namwamba participated in other sports events at the stadium.

Before the Devolution Conference, county chiefs and employees were to socialize at the sporting event, according to Namwamba.

Andrew Mwadime of Taita Taveta and Ken Lusaka of Bungoma were among the other governors in attendance.

Over 10,000 people are anticipated to attend the conference's opening tomorrow, which will be presided over by President William Ruto.

Senators and governors were scheduled to play a football game at the stadium.
