Romeo Lavia, a midfielder from Belgium, has agreed to join Chelsea from Southampton, according to sources in the media on Tuesday.

According to the BBC, Chelsea and the 19-year-old agreed on a cost of Sh9.7 billion.

Lavia joined Manchester City in 2020 but only played twice for the team before leaving and joining Saints in July 2022 for Sh1.9 billion.

The defensive midfielder for the club on the south coast played 34 games in all competitions, scoring once but being unable to stop Southampton from being relegated from the Premier League.

The Belgian will now join Chelsea's British record-signing Moises Caicedo at Stamford Bridge after Liverpool and Chelsea both made offers for Lavia.
