This season, he also performed poorly in United's Premier League games, prompting questions about how he would fit into manager Erik ten Hag's plans.

Rasmus Hojlund, a Danish striker recruited from Serie A Atalanta, has not played for United owing to a back ailment.

Ten Hag's men host Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday before visiting Arsenal the following weekend in their final match before the international break.
