For the third consecutive time, the Shujaa national rugby sevens team has earned their spot in the Olympics.

The Shujaa had to triumph in the Rugby Africa Cup to secure their qualification. In an intense final match, they faced formidable opponents, ultimately prevailing over South Africa’s Blitzboks with a score of 17-12.

Despite being behind at halftime with a score of 12-7, the Shujaa rallied, and John Okoth delivered the game-changing try, propelling Kenya to victory and disappointing South African fans.

The Blitzboks still have a chance to secure their spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics by clinching victory in the Olympic repechage, which will award the 12th and final slot.

In the semi-finals on Sunday, Shujaa displayed an impressive performance, defeating hosts Zimbabwe with a scoreline of 35-10. Meanwhile, South Africa secured their spot in the final by triumphing over Uganda with a score of 26-14.

In the previous Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Shujaa secured the ninth position. Their performance in Rio 2016 saw them finish in the 11th spot.
