With the recent events about the shakahola cult unravelling. Let's talk about religious cults. Religious cults are groups that adhere to extreme or unconventional religious beliefs and practices and are frequently led by a charismatic leader.

Entering a religious cult may be dangerous since members can become estranged from their family, friends, and society. Here are several indications that you may be a member of a religious cult:

1)Absolute faith in the leader

In a cult, the leader is frequently viewed as a divine or messianic figure, and followers are expected to accept his every word blindly. The leader is commonly regarded as the sole source of truth, and criticism or challenge to his authority is not tolerated.

2) Isolation from family and friends

Cults frequently push members to isolate themselves from family and friends who are not group members. This can be accomplished by deception or direct pressure, leaving members isolated from the outside world and utterly reliant on the group.

3)Mind Control tactics

Cults frequently use mind control tactics to keep members submissive and loyal. Sleep deprivation, sensory deprivation, and repetitive singing or reinforcement are examples of such approaches.

4) Financial donation requests

Cults frequently require members to contribute substantial amounts to the group. Mandatory tithes can accomplish this or pressure people to pay for fundraising drives. Members may be encouraged to believe their financial contribution is required for the group's survival or personal spiritual growth.

 5)Extreme or dangerous practices

Cults may engage in extreme or risky activities such as prolonged fasting, treatment refusal, or violent or aggressive behaviour. These activities can be rationalized as spiritual cleansing or a test of members' faith.

 6)Rigorous Rules and Regulations

Cults frequently have rigorous rules and regulations restricting members' behaviour. These constraints, including wardrobe, food, or personal relationship limitations, can be arbitrary or irrational. Members who violate these regulations may be fined or disqualified.

 7)Us vs Them mindset

Cults frequently develop a "us versus them" mindset in which one group is considered superior to the rest of society. Members may be taught to distrust outsiders and anyone not a member of the organization.
