Digital commerce enabler Network International has launched an in-person payment solution in Kenya to revolutionize payment systems.

Network International East Africa Acquiring Regional Managing Director Judy Waruiru said introducing the company’s point-of-sale (POS) is its strategy to enter the in-person payments market in Kenya.

Network International says that Kenya presents a ripe opportunity for growth in in-store payment solutions.

Over 55,000 point-of-sale machines are in use, lower than the country's 7.4 million registered micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

The network’s approach includes offering cost-effective solutions, such as QR code payments, to enhance merchants' adoption and accessibility of card payments.

Waruiru said the initiative aims to foster greater business opportunities and increased revenue for local businesses, ensuring that no customer is left behind in the payment process.

With cash transactions still prevalent in the Middle East and Africa, Network International anticipates significant growth in digital payments as the landscape shifts.
