Huawei Kenya is set to invest Kes10 million into wildlife and environmental conservation at the Lewa Conservancy.
The fund, which will also protect the endangered white rhinos, will also run empowerment programs for 120,000 locals in education and entrepreneurship.
Huawei Kenya Deputy CEO Sheng Kaifu noted the company’s commitment to supporting environmental and wildlife conservation that has been carried out for the past 16 years.
“The conservancy is home to some of the rarest wildlife and we know through our support and the difference we make in preserving the iconic species at the conservancy for future generations as well as the surrounding communities,’’ he said.
On his part, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy’s CEO, Mike Watson noted that the Lewa Safari is not only a crucial component of conservation fundraising community efforts but it is also regarded as a world-class sporting event.

Huawei joins Safaricom in the conservation efforts after the telecommunications service provider also invested Kes10 million towards the 2023 season.
