Fish cannot be transported aboard Easy Coach buses, one of Kenya's leading transportation providers.
The Company stated that this has caused "heartache" among its clientele in a message sent to all branch managers, but it has not provided any other information as to why it has enforced the ban.
“We wish to inform you that with immediate effect fish and fish products thereof are all forbidden on all Easy Coach limited transport systems whether accompanied or by parcels,” the notice reads.
According to the Company's technical director ZK Juma, the notification from August 11 is effective right away, and all users are urged to abide by it.
“It is hoped that you will cooperate with the directive to forestall related complications.,” it adds.

Accessible Coach was founded in 2003 and runs numerous routes throughout the nation.
Given that numerous Kenyans have already voiced their opposition to the directive, it is now likely to have a detrimental effect on the Company's operations.
“If we cannot carry our fish to the City then we have no business boarding vehicles...you do not value our food,” a user said.
The Company boasts that it has the most extensive bus network in the nation, with 35 destinations, on its website.
Its key routes include Nairobi-Kisumu, Nairobi-Busia, Nairobi-Sirare, and Nairobi-Kitale.
“Easy Coach has grown to become one of the most trusted and preferred bus operators in Kenya, serving thousands of customers every day,” reads the note.
